Country House
Type: Residential
Maccabim, Israel
Private House 200 sqm
Status: Completed
2017
Maccabim is a pastoral community village overlooking the Jerusalem Mountains, beyond cultivated fields in the Ayalon Valley.
Years before the house populated a family of five. Lately, the children grew up and left the house. Their parents left with a large house that did not fit their needs, not providing a proper response to all the necessary functions and uncomfortable to maintain.
A new programmatic need - hosting family members visiting with their families - has led to a redesign of all home spaces, and significant changes that include a new division of home spaces into spacious living units for accommodation.
Thoughts about the future added another significant dimension to planning - Making space maximally accessible - creating a comfortable, spacious, and inviting place. This was achieved, among other things, with the use of natural materials, with a range of relaxing shades and the use of complementary natural and artificial lighting.
